In my last article I talked about monitoring of resources in Windows Azure with System Center 2012 Operations Manager. With the actual Management Pack is possible monitoring these elements:
- Cloud Services
- Virtual Machine (with some limitation)
As you can see, SQL components is missing because there's a dedicated MP, available from this link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=38829
After importing, a new section will compare into Authoring pane, called Windows Azure SQL Database, as showed in figure 1.

Figure 2 - Configurazione Template
Figure 2 show how to configure the template, with these values:
- Name of Server SQL Azure
- User Account
- Proxy Agent
The name of SQL server is reachable into Windows Azure portal, as showed in figure 3. User Account must be Basic Authentication, with the credential set during creation of Database in SQL Azure.

After few minutes, database will show into Monitoring / Windows Azure SQL Database, as showed in figure 4.

As for Windows Azure MP, also SQL Azure offers chance to see Performance Monitor with many view, as showed in figure 5.

As you can see, with a couple of steps it's possible manage database provided by SQL Azure....with the great software: System Center 2012 Operations Manager.
