Dal 4 al 6 ottobre 2010 si terrà la WindowServer.it PMI Conference 2010; la location sarà la sede di Overnet Education ad Assago. L'argomento principale sarà come gestire la propria azienda attraverso Windows Small Business Server 2008; non solo informatica, ma anche aspetti normativi e tecnici per pianificare nel modo corretto in che modo installare e far funzionare la propria infrastruttura. Windows 7: Problemi di performance sulle stampe

Gli IT Manager che gestiscono client basati su Windows 7, soprattutto in ambienti basati su Windows Server 2003, si saranno accorti che le performance di stampa a volte sono assolutamente inaccettabili. Il motivo di questo decadimento di prestazioni è legato al tipo di protocolli che vengono impostati quando si condivide una stampante.

Questo problema non avvine con l'utilizzo di driver scritti per Windows 7, ma avviene con le precedenti versioni. Per ovviare al problema è sufficiente aprire le impostazioni della stampante, condivisa o anche installata localmente, e posizionarsi sul tab Porte - figura 1.

Modificando le proprietà della porta di rete, comparirà una schermata che permetterà di modificare i paramentri; le nuove impostazioni dovranno essere così:

Protocollo: LPR
Queue Name: lp
LPR Byte Counting Enabled: Yes

Una volta fatto questo sarà anche possibile abilitare la parte di SNMP, necessaria per capire quando sta finendo la carta o quando i toner sono in esaurimento.

Questa procedura è da tenere in considerazione anche se utilizzate server basati su Windows Server 2008 R2, soprattutto se i driver non sono aggiornati; comunque perdere un minuto per verificare meglio questa cosa, vi può evitare di perdere molto più tempo in seguito.

Exchange Server 2010 SP1 FAQ and Known Issues

La Service Pack 1 di Exchange Server 2010 è stata rilasciata da pochi giorni e già sono stati rilevati i primi problemi. Per questo motivo, il team di sviluppo ha rilasciato sul suo blog una serie di informazioni per dare maggiori informazioni....eccone un estratto:

1. Upgrade order: The order of upgrade from Exchange 2010 RTM to SP1 hasn’t changed from what was done in Exchange 2007. Upgrade server roles in the following order:

- Client Access server
- Hub Transport server
- Unified Messaging server
- Mailbox server

2. SP1 Prerequisites: SP1 requires the installation of 4-5 hotfixes, depending on the operating system – Windows Server 2008, or Windows Server 2008 R2. To install the Exchange 2010 SP1 administration tools on Windows 7 and Windows Vista, you requires 2 hotfixes.

3. Prerequisite download pages linked from SP1 Setup are unavailable: When installing Exchange Server 2010 SP1 the prereq check may turn up some required hotfixes to install. The message will include a link to click for help. Clicking this link redirects you to a page saying that the content does not exist.

4. The Missing Exchange Management Shell Shortcut: Some customers have reported that after upgrading an Exchange Server 2010 server to Exchange 2010 SP1, the Exchange Management Shell shortcut is missing from program options. Additionally, the .ps1 script files associated with the EMS may also be missing.

5. Upgrading Edge Transport on Forefront Threat Management Gateway (TMG) and Forefront Protection for Exchange 2010: If you upgrade a server with the Edge Transport server role running with ForeFront Threat Management Gateway (TMG) and ForeFront Protection for Exchange (FPE) enabled for SMTP protection, the ForeFront TMG Managed Control Service may fail to start and E-mail policy configuration settings cannot be applied.

6. Static Address Book Service Port Configuration Changes: The location for setting the port the address book service should use has changed in SP1. In Exchange 2010 RTM you had to edit the Microsoft.exchange.addressbook.service.exe.config to configure the service port.

7. iPhone, OWA Premium and POP3 & IMAP4 issues due to invalid accepted domain

8. Error when adding or removing a mailbox database copy: If a server running Exchange 2010 RTM (or Exchange 2010 SP1 Beta) is upgraded to Exchange 2010 SP1, administrators may experience an error when using the Add-MailboxdDatabaseDopy or Remove-MailboxDatabaseCopy cmdlets to add or remove DAG members.

Corso Online - Windows 7: Introduzione al Prodotto

Il giorno 11 ottobre terrò un corso legato a Windows 7; durante l'intera giornata, verranno analizzate le novità introdotte, in modo dettagliato, oltre a spiegare trucchi di vario genere legati a come gestire ed amministrare al meglio il sistema operativo. Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 1

Volevo avvisarvi della disponibilità della Service Pack 1 per Exchange Server 2010. Molte le novità presenti, tra cui spiccano:

- Possibilità di importare ed esportare le mailbox, in formato pst, senza avere outlook installato
- Creazione dei database dedicati solo per le mailbox di archive
- Miglioramenti nella gestione dei calendari
- Nuovi strumenti per il recovery dei database, anche online, direttamente da PowerShell
- Possibilità di impostare i permessi sulla gestione dei database, suddivisi per i vari amministratori

L'aggiornamento è consigliato a tutti quanti.

Configurare RemoteApp Connection in Windows 7 via GPO

Una delle novità introdotte in Windows 7, dalla versione Professional in su, è un sistema di feed che verifica la presenza di nuove applicazioni caricate all'interno del RemoteApp; quello che succede, ogni volta che si carica un nuovo programma, è mostrarlo dentro al menù avvio dell'utente.

La configurazione di questo feed è realizzabile tramite il pannello di controllo, però se i computer da configurare sono tanti la cosa inizia a diventare un po' complicata. Per questo motivo è possibile distribuire la configurazione tramite gpo. Come prima cosa è necessario generare un file .wcx, usando la console del Remote Desktop Services Broker; però non tutti installano questo componente e quindi basta solamente aprire il notepad ed inserire questo codice:

L'url cambierà in base al nome del vostro server....bisogna sempre immettere il valore fqdn locale e non un alias. Salvato il file, ad esempio RemoteApp.wcx, bisogna creare un file chiamato Install-RADCConnection.ps1, prendendo il codice direttamente da questo link. Questi due file vanno inseriti all'interno di una share di rete raggiungibile da tutti gli utenti.

Fatta questa operazione, bisogna creare una policy a livello Users, dove bisogna creare un nuovo Logon PowerShell Script, linkata al file Install-RADCConnection.ps1, aggiungendo come parametri aggiuntivo il nome del file .wcx.

Finito. Queste sono le operazioni da svolgere per distribuire la configurazione di RemoteApp via Group Policy, in modo semplice e veloce.

Operations Manager 2007 R2: GetSQL2008DBSpace.js error

Un problema noto con i SQL Server 2008, tenuti sotto controllo con System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2, è quello dell'esecuzione dello script che determina lo spazio disponibile per i vari database. Nello specifico, l'errore è il seguente:

Per risolvere il problema basta scaricare il Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility Components ed installarlo sul computer che esegue SQL.

Data Protection Manager 2010: Exchange Server 2010 System State Error

Utilizzando Data Protection Manager 2010, tutti coloro che hanno un sistema di posta basato su Exchange Server 2010, unito a Forefront Protection for Exchange Server 2010, si saranno accorti che il backup del System State e del Bare Metal tendono a fallire in malo modo.

La causa di tutto ciò non è Exchange, bensì Forefront che impedisce il backup a causa del suo servizio FSCVSSWriter attivo. Nel mentre il team risolve il problema, sicuramente con l'arrivo della Service Pack 1, ecco un workaround per effettuare il backup sicuro del System State.

Sul server Exchange, aprite la cartella DPM/Bin e modificate il file LHSystemStateBackup.cmd, usando il seguente codice:

Chiaramente chi ha Exchange Server senza Forefront è esente da questo problema.

Forefront TMG 2010: Pubblicare Sharepoint Workspace

Con l'arrivo di Office 2010 è stato introdotto un nuovo prodotto legato strettamente a Sharepoint: ovvero Sharepoint Workspace. Questo prodotto non è altro che il vecchio client di Groove, modificato ed adattato a più scopi, tra cui anche la possibilità di visionare le share di rete direttamente da questo applicativo.

Benchè il prodotto sia ancora lento e privo di qualche lacuna, soprattutto in ambito di sincronizzazione, è un'ottima soluzione per tutti coloro che hanno un portale Sharepoint e che vogliono accedere ai propri dati in modo semplice e veloce....anche perchè accedere ai dati di Sharepoint passando da un browser è una cosa molto fastidiosa, specie quando l'accesso ai file è elevato.

Tutto bello? Più o meno....perchè ad oggi non si può fare una distinzione tra la parte web e quella client, sotto il profilo firewall; questo comporta che se avete un meraviglioso Forefront Thread Management Gateway 2010 dovrete giungere a dei compromessi se intendete pubblicare la parte client all'esterno.

Questo articolo spiega come configurare Forefront TMG in modo che si possa accedere anche dal web esterno, verso lo Sharepoint, usando il Workspace Client.

Come prima cosa è necessario aver installato la Service Pack 1, che introduce migliorie sulla gestione delle regole di Sharepoint. A voi la scelta se pubblicare il sito in HTTPS o meno; ovvio che la scelta ricade su una connessione sicura, ma non sempre tutti la pensano così.

- Create un nuovo listener, chiamato Listener HTTP/S Sharepoint, e configuratelo in questo modo:
Autenticazione Client: HTTP Authentication (tutti i metodi selezionati)
Allow client authentication over HTTP: Enable
Domain Name: vostro dominio

La figura 1 mostra quelle che sono le impostazioni da selezionare. Ricordate che deve essere creato un certificato per il sito web, anche se lavorate in HTTP.

- Create una nuova regola di pubblicazione Sharepoint e chiamatela Publish Sharepoint 2010

Il wizard potete terminarlo lasciando le impostazioni proposte dal programma, selezionando solo il Listener appena creato. Le figure successive mostrano i parametri da configurare per poter effettuare la configurazione.

A questo punto prendete il vostro Sharepoint Workspace 2010 e provate a collegarvi dall'esterno; vedrete che le cartelle e tutti gli elementi collegati, verranno aggiornati in tempo reale senza problemi. Unica cosa che si va a perdere è il fatto che tutti coloro che accedono da web, non avranno più una form di autenticazione, ma avranno il classico box di accesso alle risorse di rete. Probabilmente nelle prossime versioni ci sarà una distinzione, come avviene in Exchange Server (tra owa, eas e rcp), per gestire tutto in maniera più pulita e semplice.

Exchange Server 2010 Update Rollup 4

E' stato rilasciato il quarto Update Rollup per Exchange Server 2010. Anche se pochi ne hanno parlato, sono presenti molti fix; ecco la lista delle correzioni effettuate:

979342 - An attachment is not visible when an Exchange Server 2010 user opens a signed mail message by using Outlook 2003

979517 - You cannot send a message to a Dynamic Distribution Group in a mixed Exchange Server 2007 and Exchange Server 2010 environment

979790 - An IMAP4 client crashes when accessing an Exchange Server 2010 mailbox

979801 - An error message is generated in Exchange Server 2010 when you use Exchange Troubleshooting Assistant

979810 - You cannot connect an Exchange Server 2010 mailbox by using a MAPI client

979848 - Event ID 1066 is logged and you cannot move a mailbox from an Exchange Server 2003 server to an Exchange Server 2010 server

979862 - Event ID 4999 and Event ID 7031 are logged when you move a mailbox to an Exchange Server 2010 server

979921 - You cannot replicate a public folder from one Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 server to another, and Event ID 3079 is logged on the target server

980149 - The Add-MailboxDatabaseCopy command fails when it is used to add a database copy to a Database Availability Group in an Exchange Server 2010 environment

980353 - A MAPI application that is used to access Exchange Server 2010 mailboxes crashes when the application accesses an address book

980354 - "MAPI_E_INVALID_PARAMETER" error message when you copy email messages from an Exchange Server 2010 mailbox

980364 - Microsoft Exchange Transport service on an Exchange Server 2010 server crashes when a certain message is processed

980701 - An Exchange Server 2010 mailbox user receives a NDR error message when the user sends an email message to multiple internal users
